OUR CHILDREN, OUR CHOICE

WE APPLAUD AND STRONGLY SUPPORT THE DECISION OF THE HOLLIS BROOKLINE COOP SCHOOL BOARD!

On Wednesday evening, August 18, the Hollis Brookline COOP School Board voted to make masks OPTIONAL for grades 7-12. With approximately 50-60 attendees, the school board members listened to the overwhelmingly pro-optional masking public input. There was no doubt that the most compelling speeches were made by three wonderfully articulate students!!

Making masks optional for grades 7-12 passed by a vote of 4-3. SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS AND CITIZENS WHO SUPPORTED US!

We needed you, and you showed up.

***

We are extremely disappointed with the decision to mandate masks for grades K-6, which the Hollis Public School Board approved on Wednesday, August 11.

As a result, a Mask-Optional Petition was presented to the Hollis Public School Board at its meeting of September 1, 2021. PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING YOUR NAME TO THE GROWING SIGNERS OF THE MASK-OPTIONAL PETITION!

IF YOU WISH TO ECHO YOUR SUPPORT FOR MASK-OPTIONAL POLICIES IN ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS:

We encourage you to send emails to the SAU41 administration and school board members. Please give them your thoughts on the subject. It is important to emphasize to school officials the psychological, emotional, and serious health risks of impeding oxygen flow by covering the airways of any child for 7 hours per day.

In addition to the Mask Optional Petition, this 17-page research document was sent to all of the SAU41 administration officials and the members of all SAU41 school boards on September 1, 2021. When sent, the document had many supporting signers, and those numbers continue to grow.

AboutHollis did not sponsor or contribute to the research document. However, we felt that it was important for concerned citizens to also know the research that was provided to all of the SAU 41 school boards and officials in favor of “mask-optional” policies for our schools.

The document is provided below for your review. It contains credible research on the lack of effectiveness of masks, and Covid’s low risk to children and addresses a number of concerns raised by the Hollis School Board Chairperson. The research also indicates that the virus follows seasonal patterns without regard to mitigation attempts. We trust the citizens of Hollis/Brookline to evaluate this material and reach their own conclusions.

There is no power greater than the honest, unadorned words of young people who have the courage of their convictions and the strength to voice them. The students below spoke to the Hollis Brookline COOP school board on Wednesday, August 18. Watch and listen to them here!
